On March 1st, 2016, Chairman COPHC/Mr. Zhang Baozhong visited Pak China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) accompanied by CEO Gwadar International Terminal/Capt. Dai Xiaolong. A Memorandum of Understanding was inked between GITL and NSTN in which GITL will provide land for warehousing and storage of goods/containers to NSTN at Gwadar port.
During the ceremony Chairman COPHC Mr. Zhang has given a speech and expressed his views that COPHC Pakistan is developing the region’s most strategically well located Gwadar port into a hub of maritime trade in the whole region. With the development of infrastructure of Gwadar Free Zone, Gwadar Port will attract more investment which will promote the development of different sectors and contribute to local social and economical development. Chairman also thanked the Pakistani Government & Armed forces for the fast pace in the completion of the highways of supporting CPEC project.
Further CEO/GITL/ Capt. Dai updated that Gwadar Terminal has done a lot of effective and fruitful work. Last year in May, the commercial containerized service from Gwadar has been commenced which is continuously catering the seafood shipments for Indonesia, China & other Far Eastern countries. He further added that port facilities are well underway and announced commissioning of the STS cranes along with other essential equipment would be available by this year 2016. So with these impressive facilities operating in complement with each other, Gwadar terminal is fully geared up to welcome container & general cargo ships from anywhere in the world.
